Mitsubishi Mirage Carpet - Removing the Console and Trim

<< First Last >> ..3..

Removing the Rear Console

Remove the 2 screws from the rear console. The rear console is attached to the front part by a pair of snapping tabs. Pry them out, pull the hand brake up and pull out the rear console.

Removing the Front Console

Remove the ashtray, put your hand inside the gap and grab the bezel. Pull it out slowly and help it out with a screwdriver if needed.

Unscrew the front side screws - top and bottom. Unscrew the screws from above the cupholder.

Unscrew the rear screws holding the front console to the floor. Pull the front console out by swinging its rear end over the shifter.

Removing the Door Sills and Foot Rest
Pry out the tabs on the foot rest to access the plastic fasteners. Unscrew those and remove the foot rest. Unscrew the restrictor below the gas pedal.

Remove the cowl side trim by unscrewing the plastic nut near the fuse box area. With that out of the way you get a good grip at the door sill which pries out.

Removing the Rear Trim

Pry out the rear trim starting at the B-pillar and work up and backwards. There are about 5 snapping tabs that hold the trim to the frame.

Removing the Carpet

Undo the Velcro cross-straps and front Velcro tab. Except for a bit of glue under the driver's right heel the carpet should come off easily.
