Examine the plexiglass covering the cluster and find the little tabs that fasten it to the black plastic housing. Undo them and carefully remove the plexiglass without stressing the trip-reset stick. Locate the similar tabs on the plastic faceplate of the cluster and remove it from the white housing. Be very careful with the host cluster from now on, you don't want to break it. Unscrew the three screws at the back of the tachometer. The tacho should come out easily.
Turn the needle backwards to 0 where it reaches a dead stop. Keep twisting past 0 and carefully remove it from the motor axis. Unscrew the screws from the tach dial and separate the dial, needle, clear plastic backing and the PCB + motor. Put the PCB+motor in a safe place, you won't need it anymore. The stock tachometer PCB is far less complex than that of the Sunpro tach. Obviously it doesn't interchange well among Mirage models.
